Sketching Sandpoint’s Architectural History

On site and in the JDS Studio, students will sketch iconic buildings that grace Sandpoint’s history from the late 19th century to today. They will describe, through sketching and color washing, architectural components and the built environment that informs Sandpoint’s history. Students will learn the use of Line and Wash technique to enhance the sketches they made for their our personal portfolio.

About Barry Burgess

Local artist Barry Burgess has taught drawing, cartooning, and watercolor classes since 2021. A longtime member of POAC, he has exhibited works of collage, 2-dimensional art, and watercolor paintings in public and private venues throughout the Northwest. His drawing and painting acumen is informed by more than 25 years of architectural practice. Barry continues to practice his art at his studio in Sandpoint.

• A Standard 12 Pan Transparent Watercolor Set

• 9inch x 12inch Mixed Media “Rough, 114lb, or 140lb Watercolor Sketch Pad. ( A (lay flat) hard-bound journal is recommended as a wonderful way to create your sketch portfolio.)
