Oil Painting

This is a full introduction of oil paints, materials, handling, and the advantages of classic oil painting techniques. 

Students will be taught effective color mixing to simplify the process and eliminate the challenge of “mud grey” that can destroy the vibrancy of oil paints. The colors in the finished paintings lively and pure. 

Step by step construction of an oil painting from concept to execution will be taught in this class. Students will learn the “what, why, where, and how “ of the oil painting process and they will be taught clarify and simplify the steps used to produce finished paintings. 

Individualized teaching for specific questions unique to each student will be a highlight of this class.. 

About karen trueblood

  Karen is a working artist that has taught, sold and shown her work in galleries and shows for over 35 years. She works in many styles and materials: pastels, watercolors, oils, acrylics, charcoal, and mixed media. She loves any subject from portraits to landscape.  She thrives on finding inspiration everywhere. 

 Karen’s passion is to share the gift of artistic expression, and she believes absolutely anyone can learn how to create and explore making art. Her teaching is based on classic principles, giving her students the right tools, and helping her students to understand how to use them. She takes the mystery and fear out of what is needed to be an artist. She loves teaching and she loves empowering people so they can create.
