Fundamentals of Hand Built Ceramics
This class is an in-depth introduction to hand building with clay. During this 4-week class, students will complete a variety of projects while they learn the pinch pot, coil, and slab methods of building with clay. They will learn how to use texture in their work and how to make their own texture tool. They will also learn how glaze their finished work with oxides, underglazes, and glazes.
About collista krebs
Collista has been working with clay since she took a clay class as an elective in nursing school in the 1980’s. In the 1990’s she was a ghost potter for Stone Crow Pottery in N.C. and a clay studio technician for the Glassell School of Art in Houston, TX. She has been teaching clay classes since the 1990’s and 3 schools have allowed her and the children to make ceramic murals for their schools. Currently she is teaching at the Spokane Art School and the Museum of Arts and Culture in Spokane, Washington.

Supply Fee
All materials will be provided by the instructor for a $100.00 supply fee. (Please bring cash to the first class session.) The materials will includes a 25-lb bag of clay, oxide glazes, underglazes, glazes, the use of all tools, and the firing of all completed work.
Supply list
A container to transport your clay back and forth to class and plastic to cover it. (dry cleaning bags work great if you have one.)
