Drawing III
In this advanced drawing course students will continue to study the effects of light and shadow to achieve realistic and dimensional effects on their drawings. Multiple techniques will be introduced and used to strengthen the core of a drawing while developing skill with accuracy and and a sense of individuality in expressing in a creative way.
The instructor will introduce anatomy to help students understand the human figure. She will share the techniques and proportions in portraiture to explore how to draw individual character.
This course will prepare the students to move on into any medium with confidence and a solid understanding of drawing skills.
Drawing 1 and 2 are recommended to move into this course, but any student who wishes to expand their refinement of existing skills are welcome.

Karen is a working artist that has taught, sold and shown her work in galleries and shows for over 35 years. She works in many styles and materials: pastels, watercolors, oils, acrylics, charcoal, and mixed media. She loves any subject from portraits to landscape. She thrives on finding inspiration everywhere.
Karen’s passion is to share the gift of artistic expression, and she believes absolutely anyone can learn how to create and explore making art. Her teaching is based on classic principles, giving her students the right tools, and helping her students to understand how to use them. She takes the mystery and fear out of what is needed to be an artist. She loves teaching and she loves empowering people so they can create.

A utility knife for sharpening pencils if you have one

Karen will provide extra paper, erasers, some tools, and all props for drawing for an $8.00 supply fee. (Please bring cash to the first class session.)
